A push of very large stripers made its way through the Canal this week, with a mid 50-pound fish weighed in on Tuesday in addition to many others over 35 pounds. Meanwhile, live bait seems to be the key strategy for stripers on the bay side, with most consistent activity happening around the east end of the Canal. Bonito are still being found consistently at the Bonito Bar, Hooter and elsewhere on the sound side, with some reports of spanish mackerel as well.
