Over the past few months we've noticed a surge in beanies and caps from a company called Eat My Fly Outfitters. We recently caught up with Matt B, founder and owner of EMF and had the privilege of trying out his featured beanie and NJ shirt.
Here's a little bit about Matt from his 'About Me' section on the EMF Blog...
"I currently live in Somerset County, NJ and fish most major rivers in the state. I also love to target native trout in the smaller but beautiful creeks we have here in And around NJ. I frequently tie true and tried patterns and love to come up with original patterns as well. When I'm not fishing, I'm probably at work teaching Health and Physical Education at the middle school level. I also coach the Boys Basketball and Baseball teams at school and run my own baseball camps throughout the summer. I'm 31 years old, married to my beautiful and supportive wife Maria, and have a dog named Charlie (who loves being in the water as much as I do). See you on the river....."
Here's the low down on EMF and our interview with Matt...
How/why was EMF started?
How has EMF's gear done in the few months its been live?Eat My Fly Outfitters was started in October of 2013. I really just got tired of seeing the same old hat on the river so I thought, make my own.
What do you do in your spare time?Never really thought it would go anywhere after I had a few dozen hats printed up, they sold fairly quickly. So since then, I have been networking, hitting local fishing flea markets, and coming up with new ideas.I know I have only been in business for a few months but have big plans for 2014 with the launch of our website and release of new products, mainly hats and shirts. Right now, I couldn't be happier with the progress of EMF.
Here are a few of EMF's products. You can roll on over to the EMF site to check out more and catch up on a great NJ fly fishing blog.I teach middle school and coach boys basketball and baseball as a regular job but EMF occupies my free time. I also enjoy blogging (www.eatmyfly.blogspot.com) and tying flies. I fish around 150 days a year mostly targeting trout on the fly.
We're hoping to catch up with Matt at The Fly Fishing Show in Somerset, NJ. Keep your eye on Instagram for #EatMyFlyOutfitters and directly on Matt's profile, @mattybugs23.
Boom...Morgan
