Hello Indiegogo! Thanks for checking us out!
What happened to your last pair of plastic sunglasses? The odds are that they were either misplaced or thrown out.
In 2011, Americans generated more than 32 million tons of plastic trash. Less than 8% was recycled. The remaining plastic lasts forever in landfills. That’s the best-case scenario. Even worse is that it will break down into incredibly small components that end up in our water supply or our food. dizm hopes to do our part and help ease our reliance on using plastic in many of our everyday products.
dizm Eco Eyewear offers a full line of stylish, performance sunglasses with biodegradable frames to lessen the impact on our outdoor playgrounds. As active lovers of all things outdoors and based here in Hermosa Beach, CA, we’ve created our sunglasses with design rooted in Southern California outdoor lifestyle with a look equally at home at the beach, on the boat deck or in the mountains.
Our sunglass frames are handmade with RB Cellulose Acetate that is a 100% renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and compostable plant-based material. In contrast to our competitors who use petroleum-based materials in their frames, ours are made from renewable raw materials: cotton, wood and palm oil. With the appropriate environmental conditions, the frames will decompose into water, carbon dioxide and biomass.

Our Challenge
We searched the world for new materials to make sunglasses that are environmentally friendly, but do not require any sacrifice in fit, quality or design. We introduced our line of handmade sunglasses last year with frames crafted from a 100% renewable and biodegradable plant-based material. They are great glasses, but the handmade manufacturing process is expensive.
How You Can Help Us
Your pledge enables us to pay for tooling that allows us to "injection mold" our glasses, making it possible to offer our glasses at more affordable prices. Raising $12K allows us to tool our existing collection of six styles. With every additional $2K raised, we will be able to design more pieces and expand our collection.
Please support with whatever level you're comfortable. We'll pay you back with some great rewards and high-quality, eco-friendly sunglasses that you'll love.
Thanks for your support,
The dizm Eyewear Family

Our sunglasses are “Optical Quality,” meaning you may take the frames to a local optician to have prescription lenses added. The frames are wire injected for a custom flex fit.
Polarized lenses reduce reflected glare such as sunlight that bounces off water, snow, cars or roads. CR39 polarized lenses offer superior impact and scratch resistance while still maintaining an extremely clear lens. The CR39 lens material was originally created to replace traditional glass in aircraft windshields
dizm lenses offer 100% Ultraviolet (UV) eye protection. UV eye protection matters as UV radiation from the sun can damage not only the skin of your eyelid but also the cornea, lens and other parts of the eye. UV exposure also contributes to the development of certain types of cataracts and possibly vision loss in later life.
dizm frames feature Base 6 curvature meaning they have a "middle of the road" wrap to them: not too little, not too much. But just enough of a wrap to give you side coverage to protect you from the Sun’s harmful rays.
RISKS AND CHALLENGES
We recognize that there are risks in any project. To minimize the risk, we have already identified and qualified the eco material and the manufacturer. We have been previously successful in creating a line of handmade eco sunglasses as well a line of injection molded glasses and believe we have done everything that is needed to minimize the risks.
