Fly Product: Blue Halo Gear

Well, Cam (of TFM) beat me to it, said pretty much everything I have to say so I'll do a little C&P action to give you guys the rundown. Basically, like Cam, I've been following Blue Halo for about a year now, emailing them asking for updates and searching every medium I can to find clues and such of when the major release will be. Well, here they are, ready to go and jumping into the market at the perfect time! Although I LOVE my Allen reels, I will definitely have to give these guys a shot. Welcome Blue Halo!

For over the last year or so I have been patiently waiting to make this announcement and it's been really neat to watch Blue Halo Gear grow from an idea between a few friends to a full fledged company working through products in prototype stage to offering a colorful mix of fiberglass fly rod blanks and several fly reels on their recently launched website.

Currently Blue Halo Gear is only offering an 8' 5/6 weight glass blank but they are in prototype stages of several addition glass blanks and colors as well.

"We, as fellow obsessed fly fishermen want to introduce you to our fresh take on rods and reels.  Introducing for the first time in the history of the world (enter trumpet sounds)… Blue Halo Gear. 

I think we can all agree that we live for fishing, and we all have different ideas of why we buy certain gear.  We designed our products to get the attention of the gear-heads that want the ability to open a can of whoop ass on whatever it is that they are fishing, and while they are opening that can, they will look really good doing it.  We have dope colors that will make your grandpa turn over in his grave.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a ton of money to throw down on a new reel, because we’ve got one for you.  If you do want the cream of the crop…well, we have one of those for you too. 

I don’t know how many colors are visible in a rainbow, but Blue Halo Gear has a more diverse color range in fiberglass rods than anybody else on the business, with more on the way very soon.  Don’t get us wrong, we still have traditional roots, but with some of our rods we have added an innovative flare.  We want to eliminate the two to three month wait time that can sometimes be associated with buying a blank. You see a color that you want…we will have it.  No more waiting for months, now you only have to wait a couple of days to start building.

I have not had a chance to cast one of the Blue Halo Gear blanks but others that I trust have and say that they are a very nice blank for the money.  I look forward to their future additions and hopefully they will be sending a build or two for the T.F.M. Fly Rod Loan Program in the coming months.
