Fish Itch: Tru Turn Hook Assortment $5.00 (52% off)

Heck, if everybody and their cousin knew how good an ol' fashioned hook and minnow worked, every lure company in the world would be outta business. Of course, if you fish, you fish with fish hooks. And these fish hooks will work better at catchin’ just about anything that swims if you add a little bait to it. These Blood Red hooks stimulate a feeding response. When fish see red, they think blood. And when they think blood, they think “easy meal.” And when they think "easy meal," your pole bends! Today’s deal is 853ZS Tru-Turn, Blood Red Aberdeen hooks. They feature that ol’ world-famous cam-action bend in the shank. It rotates towards pressure…like steppin’ on a rake. (Ouch!) You get a pack of each size: 2, 4, 6, and 8. Size 2 – think big Crappie, Bass, and pond sized Catfish. Size 4 – good for Walleye or Carp. Size 6 – that’s a perfect big Bluegill hook right there. Size 8 – Perch, Sunfish, Trout – get ‘em! I’m throwin’ in a Tru-Turn sticker with these, too.

The Fiberglass Manifesto: Montana Fly Company Gear

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW EMAIL ADDRESS TO SUBMIT YOUR NAME FOR THE GIVEAWAY IS NOWtfmcontests@gmail.com.

A couple months ago at IFTD in New Orleans I met with Sammi  Johnson of Outside Media who walked me through the 2012 offerings from Montana Fly Company.  Essentially everything old was new all over again.  New logo, new flies, new fly boxes, and an all new Artist Series as well.

What really caught my eye was the Boat Box which is a large waterproof fly box that an optional removable center leaf can be installed which allows the fly box to hold up to 4,000 flies in it.  These fly boxes are going to be great for those in boats and kayaks who want to carry everything in one place.

The Artist Series offerings involve artists Bern Sundell, A.D. Maddox, Travis Sylvester and Josh Udesen and their artwork is incorporated in the new River Camo and paintings which are on iPhone and iPad covers, fly boxes, coffee thermoses, flasks, tools, fly reels, and other items.  Everything looked and felt really great with reasonable price points as well.

I have been using one of the new Travis Sylvester Artist Series iPhone covers for the past several months and it's a worthy case to keep your iPhone safe.  The iPhone case has a tight fit and made of a durable plastic which will undoubtedly protect your iPhone investment.

It was no wonder why Montana Fly Company left IFTD with two awards from Angling Trade/Midcurrent for Best of Show for the Boat Box and Artist Series iPad Cover.

Look for many of the Artist Series items in your local fly shops and online since they make great Christmas presents.
