Fish Itch: Wright & McGill Tailwater Gloves ($8.99 - 50% off)
Like the fish, these gloves don't know how cold it is
If you've ever fished a tailwater, ya know it's always pretty darn chilly there below the dam. And out there on the ice, drillin' holes and pullin' fish outta frosty water--that's even chillier. But gettin' chilly yerself can be downright painful--a surefire way to take the fun outta fishing. But the fix ain’t retreatin’ to yer easy chair, it’s gearing' up the right way. These Tailwater Gloves from Wright & McGill--now this is what I'm talkin' about. They help you get a grip on fish--or whatever else you need to grab onto--and keep you warm while you’re doin’ it. Whether you’re on the ice or standin’ in a wintry trout stream, these are a perfect way to keep yer hands warm and dry. So score a pair, strap ‘em on, and go find out what’s bit in’!
T.F.M.: Scientific Anglers Mastery Textured Lines
PLEASE NOTE THE EMAIL ADDRESS TO SUBMIT YOUR NAME FOR THE GIVEAWAY IStfmcontests@gmail.com.We are living in a time where fly lines have more research and development and technology in them than ever before. You can still find a simple general purpose fly line but you're more likely to come across a wall of fly lines at your local fly shop that have been fine tuned to shine in specific water types and temperatures as well as casting flies to certain fish species. It can be mind boggling for sure.
For over the past year and a half I have been using several of the Scientific Anglers Mastery Textured fly lines on several of my fiberglass fly rods and been nothing but impressed. TheMastery Textured fly lines have a lot of the positive attributes of the Sharkskin Series fly lines for casting distance and slickness through the guides, priced a twenty spot less, and offered in a wide range choices.
I have been especially impressed with the Nymph/Indicatorand Saltwater Taper fly lines and just started using the newTrout Stalker since getting handed a four weight line at IFTDin August.
The Nymph/Indicator fly line is great for bombing out big casts with big flies and really shone this summer while fishing around Beaver Island for smallmouth hucking big bugger patterns on my Steffen 5/6 weight.
The Saltwater Taper fly line has worked perfectly on my Steffen 8/9 weight casting weighted and unweighted flies in short and out long. A lot of lawn casting and a couple redfishtrips have me liking this fly line a lot.
I haven't had a lot of time to fish the new Trout Stalker fly line but have it paired with my Kabuto Rods 7643 and noticed it casts with a very delicate delivery on the water and looks to be a great technical trout fly line.
For those interested, Scientific Anglers is offering a holiday promotion that is well worth checking out with $25 off a $150 purchase and $50 off a purchase of $300 or more. A good way to stock up on a few fly lines for the coming year.
